What is the problem?
Which findings explain your concern, and which parts still need examination? For example, missing bone and inflamed gum tissue are different problems, even if they affect the same implant site.

What is the proposed benefit, and what can it realistically achieve? A graft may be considered to create support for an implant; the reason and limitations should be clear for your particular site.

Could the existing plan, another treatment or monitoring be appropriate? Discuss the benefits, risks and consequences of each suitable option, including choosing not to proceed.

What happens first, and why?
Understand any disease control, grafting, implant placement, healing and final tooth stages. Ask what must be checked before moving on, who provides each stage and what could change the plan.

Confirm findings in person
Records and video support a diagnosis and proposed plan based on the information available. Examination of the current tissues, teeth and restorations confirms the findings before treatment.
Allow for healing and review
If surgery is agreed, plan to stay in Barcelona through the initial healing phase and our team’s review, according to the procedure. Later treatment stages may require further visits.
Coordinate ongoing care
After the initial review, follow-up can continue with your local dentist as agreed. Clarify temporary teeth, final restorations, records exchange, costs and responsibility for each stage.
Yes. After receiving full documentation, Dr. Sahand Shirzadi Maryan and Dr. Sergi Rivas Frau offer a scheduled video consultation. They explain a diagnosis and proposed plan based on those records, the options and what still needs examination. Findings are confirmed in person before treatment; the video consultation does not guarantee suitability for surgery.
Do I have to change dentists or have surgery with OsteoPerio?
No. A second opinion can help you understand your existing plan and discuss it with your dentist. It may support that plan, identify alternatives or show that more information is needed. Seeking an opinion does not commit you to treatment with us.
Can you tell whether my tooth or implant can be saved?
Records can help explain the problem and possible options. Examination, gum measurements, current symptoms and the condition of the tooth or restoration may also be needed. Neither a scan nor a video consultation can guarantee that a tooth or implant can be retained.
What if previous grafting or implant treatment has not worked?
The review considers what was done, how the tissues healed and the current condition. Some contributing factors may be identified; others may remain uncertain. An unsatisfactory result does not by itself establish why it happened or whether earlier treatment was inappropriate. Further surgery is not an automatic recommendation.
What if I do not have all my records?
You can make an initial enquiry with a brief description and tell us what is available. The team will explain which records are needed for a useful consultation and how to share them. Do not arrange new imaging solely to make an enquiry; it should be requested when clinically appropriate.
Will you communicate with my dentist?
If coordination would help, discuss which information needs to be exchanged and agree the arrangements with the team. You can also ask your dentist for copies of relevant records. Before any shared treatment, clarify who provides each stage and the follow-up.
Is a written report included?
Confirm the consultation fee and scope in advance, including whether a written summary, formal report or additional imaging is included or separate. A clinical second opinion does not automatically include a medico-legal report. An enquiry does not confirm a free consultation.
What if I have pain, swelling or a loose implant now?
Seek prompt dental assessment locally for acute pain, swelling, persistent bleeding or a loose implant or restoration. Do not wait for an international second-opinion appointment to deal with an urgent problem. After immediate care, records may help with a later review of longer-term options.
